Checking to See If Your Home

Checking to See If Your Home

Always Be Alert! PPD recommends that whenever anyone comes to your front door, do the following:

  1. Check to see who it is
  2. Never open the door to someone you do not know…
  3. Always speak to the person through the door so that they KNOW someone is home, if you do not respond they may go around back and try to break in
  4. Never hesitate to call PPD if the person is suspicious (PPD likes to respond to such calls, this is what makes Plano a safe place to live)

The following is taken from the PCN Facebook page:

This morning around 9am we had a white young male come to our door right after our son left for college. He asked if someone named “Tyler” lived here. My husband told him no without opening the storm door. We thought it was strange that a minute after our son left we had someone ringing the doorbell – we thought someone was trying to determine if the no one was at home. We called the DPD non emergency number to alert DPD about this incident. It was a good thing we did because the police was out looking for him this morning – he was arrested shortly after our call. We were informed by the police that the young man had several outstanding warrants for burglary and that the had a long rap sheet.

Moral of the story – if you see something that does not seem right, call the non emergency number, you could be preventing a burglary in our neighborhood.
